چکیده

The Hall response function of symmetric and asymmetric planar Hall effect devices is investigated by scanning a magnetized tip above a sensor surface while simultaneously recording the topography and the Hall voltage. Hall sensor geometries are tailored using a focused ion beam, in standard symmetric and asymmetric geometries. With this technique we are able to reduce a single voltage probe to a narrow constriction 20 times smaller than the other device dimensions. We show that the response function is peaked above the constriction, in agreement with numerical simulations. The results suggest a way to pattern Hall sensors for enhanced spatial resolution. © 2003 American Institute of Physics. @DOI: 10.1063/1.1543651#

Scanning hall probe microscopy technique for investigation of magnetic properties

Scanning Hall Probe Microscopy (SHPM) is a scanning probe microscopy technique developed to observe and image magnetic fields locally. This method is based on application of the Hall Effect, supplied by a micro hall probe attached to the end of cantilever as a sensor.  SHPM provides direct quantitative information on the magnetic state of a material and can also image magnetic induction under a...

Spatial detection of ferromagnetic wires using GMR sensor and based on shape induced anisotropy

The purpose of this paper is to introduce a new technique for row spacing measurement in a wire array using giant magnetoresistive (GMR) sensor. The self-rectifying property of the GMR-based probes leads to accurately detection of the magnetic field fluctuations caused by surface-breaking cracks in conductive materials, shape-induced magnetic anisotropy, etc. The ability to manufacture probes h...

Design and fabrication of a high-Q near-field probe for subsurface crack detection

Non-destructive detection and evaluation of invisible cracks in metal structures is an important matter in several critical environments including ground transportation, air transportation and power plants. In this paper, a high-Q near-field Microwave probe is designed and fabricated using defected ground structures for surface and subsurface crack detection in metal structures. For this purpos...
